Rain is something Nuevo Oriente, in eastern Guatemala, is never short of. The average annual rainfall exceeds 2,000 mm, and the soil is deeply weathered, providing ideal conditions for growing this fine coffee, which has a taste reminiscent of caramel, pecan nuts and tropical fruit. But there is more to this single-origin coffee than just its round taste profile. What makes it really special is the group of 19 spirited women who run the Café de Mujeres project. When harvesting, they take great care to only pick ripe, red coffee cherries. The beans are then wet-processed, sieved, sorted and packed, and we buy them directly from these amazing women. Café de Mujeres is best suited for filter coffee machines, French press, Karlsbader pots, Aeropress coffee makers and moka pots.
