SCA Barista Professional

For experienced specialists

The SCA Barista Professional course is the final step to becoming a coffee-making pundit. After completion of this course, you will be awarded 25 Coffee Diploma points as well as the Barista Professional Diploma by the SCA (Speciality Coffee Association). Relevant professional experience and the successful completion of the Intermediate Barista course are prerequisites for participation.

Course content

  • In-depth topic knowledge, including coffee cultivation, processing, classification, roasting methods and tasting
  • Preparation skills, including extraction theory and basic infusion techniques
  • Espresso and espresso-based beverages
  • Professional use of espresso machines
  • Cost analysis, HACCP, break-even point, coffee lab equipment


To participate in this course, you need at least one year of documented experience in the industry and successful completion of the Barista Intermediate course. The written exam covers the same topics as the Barista Intermediate course, but at a more in-depth level. Both the written and oral examinations are set at a higher level of difficulty.
